Active crisis

Something just happened. Here's what the first hours look like.

If a crisis is breaking right now, call us. For active situations we respond within the hour, 24/7, and senior people take the call. In the first hours we assess your exposure, put out a holding statement if one is needed, decide who hears from you and in what order, and take control of incoming media inquiries, working alongside your counsel from the start.

What happens in the first 60 minutes

  • We get the facts you have, what is confirmed, and what is still unknown.
  • We map who already knows, who is about to find out, and which reporters are asking.
  • We decide whether a holding statement is needed now or whether silence is safer for the next few hours.
  • We loop in your legal counsel so nothing said publicly creates a problem later.

What a holding statement sounds like

A holding statement buys time without guessing. It confirms you are aware, says what you are doing, and commits to an update. An illustrative example (not a client statement): "We are aware of the incident at our facility this morning. Our first priority is the safety of our employees and the community. We are working with the relevant authorities and will share more information as soon as it is confirmed."

It does not speculate on cause, assign blame, or promise outcomes you cannot control.

Who you tell, and in what order

Sequence matters. The people who would be hurt most by reading it in the press usually hear first: leadership and the board, then employees, key clients, partners, and investors, then the public and the media. We draft each message for its reader.

When to speak and when to stay quiet

Silence is a decision, not a default. Sometimes the right call is to say nothing until facts are confirmed or counsel clears it; sometimes silence lets someone else define the story. We make that call with you based on what is already public and what is coming.

Taking over mid-crisis

Many engagements start after the first statement is already out. If you are already in it, with or without another firm, we review what has been said, close the gaps, and take over media handling and messaging from where things stand.

Frequently Asked

Questions.

How fast do you respond to an active crisis?
Within one hour for active crises, 24/7. Standard inquiries get a reply within 24 hours.
Can you take over a crisis that's already underway?
Yes. We review what has already been said, then take over messaging and media handling from where things stand.
Should we put out a statement right away?
Not always. A short holding statement is often right, but sometimes saying nothing until facts are confirmed is safer. We make that call with you and your counsel.
Do you work with our lawyers?
Yes. We coordinate with your legal counsel from the start.
Is it confidential?
Always.

This is not the time to vet agencies.
